The Institute of Economics, Geography and Demography (IEGD) is part of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). IEGD is an interdisciplinary institute which focusses on key societal challenges as well as their linkages with environmental challenges. There are active research groups in sustainable food systems, ageing, demographic dynamics, migration dynamics and multi-scalar geographical analysis. There are also two labs, focusing on “Networked ageing and experimental statistics” and “Spectroradiometry and environmental teledetection”. The institute hosts multiple large-scale projects including FP7, H2020, Horizon Europe, as well as hosting highly competitive projects including ERC Echo, ESFRI-EU GGP+. We also participate in several interdisciplinary collaboration platforms (PTI) including PTI Salud Global and PTI Agriambio. The latter includes a collaboration agreement with the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture to support the evaluation of the Spanish implementation of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) 2022-2027. IEGD aims to produce highly interdisciplinary and innovative research focusing on key societal and environmental challenges, in close collaboration with a range of academic and non-academic partners to ensure real-world impact.
